According to statistics from global health research institutions, chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects over 850 million people worldwide. Currently, kidney disease ranks as the eighth leading cause of reduced life expectancy. Without adequate attention, it is projected to become the fifth leading cause by 2040. In light of the public's lack of awareness about chronic kidney disease, the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations have proposed establishing the second Thursday of March each year as "World Kidney Day."

March 15, 2024 – DaVita (Shandong) Kidney Disease Hospital hosted a World Kidney Day themed patient event in Changqing, Jinan. The meeting specially invited Professor Wang Zunsong, Director of Nephrology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University (Shandong Provincial Qianfoshan Hospital), Professor Wang Lei, Director of the Urban Outpatient Department at the Skin Disease Hospital affiliated with Shandong First Medical University, and Medical Director Li Jin of DaVita Shandong Joint Venture Hospital to provide on-site guidance.

Three senior nephrology experts focused on key issues in the daily lives of dialysis patients, providing detailed explanations on how to effectively control blood phosphorus levels and properly manage dialysis-related skin itching. By combining practical treatment cases with the latest research findings, they shared a series of practical lifestyle guidelines and nursing strategies with over a hundred kidney patients and their family members attending the event.

As the world's second-largest transnational kidney healthcare group, DaVita actively responds to the kidney health education initiatives promoted by the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations. During this World Kidney Day themed exchange event, new nursing approaches were brought to the forefront, aiming to help kidney patients enhance their self-management capabilities, improve their quality of life, and provide healthcare professionals with more comprehensive and scientific nursing strategies for reference. This series of practical guidelines, tailored to the daily habits of kidney patients, received enthusiastic feedback from the patients and their families present. DaVita Shandong Joint Venture Hospital will continue to elevate the quality of life for dialysis patients.
